Giraff Technologies is part of the case study.

The report also states that ”No other robotics innovation project offers a similar combination of research driven innovation joined with pragmatic strategic planning in order to build and scale new companies”.

The report from OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) comes from the Directorate for Science, Technology and Industry and is a case study within the OECD project “Information, communication technologies (ICTs) for a Silver Economy”. The study aims to serve as a basis for discussion at the OECD Workshop on “Anticipating the Special Needs of the 21st Century Silver Economy: Smart Technologies and Silver Innovation”, in Tokyo, Japan on September 12-13, 2012.

The project “Information, communication technologies (ICTs) for a Silver Economy” is about the demographic challenge in OECD countries that will create a significant increase in demand for elder-care services that in turn, has the potential to create a major new market for domestic and personal service robots that can assist with the care and support of the older populations and the disabled.
