Robotdalen Innovation Award - turning new robotics solutions into commercialized products

The winners of the international robotics competition, the Robotdalen Innovation Award, will receive hands-on help from the Swedish robotics initiative Robotdalen, to further develop and commercialize their innovative robotics ideas. The competition targets innovators with commercially valid robotics solutions; it may be entrepreneurs, researchers, inventors, start-ups, robot developers, graduate or postgraduate students. Robotdalen Innovation Award 2013 is now open for submissions!

- Winning the award was a valuable recognition of our product and is viewed as a label of quality by our customers, says Tomas Ward, CEO at Bioservo Technologies, winner of the Robotdalen Innovation Award 2012. 

Bioservo Technologies was founded by researchers from the Karolinska Institute and the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. Their SEM Glove combines their experiences about human needs, with modern robot technology knowledge, creating an innovative, user-friendly and adaptive robotic assistance for people who need extra help gripping things in their everyday life.

An opportunity for further development

- We are looking for ideas, concepts and solutions with commercial potential and breakthrough technology, which the SEM Glove is a brilliant example of, says, Lennart Karlsson, Internationalization Manager at Robotdalen. We have excellent competence and possibilities in Robotdalen and in Sweden to help develop and commercialize robot solutions of the future.

The winner receives € 6,000, as well as a possibility of receiving additionally € 6,000 to further develop the robotics solution in co-operation with Robotdalen. The same goes for the second contestant, who receives € 4,000, with a possibility of receiving additionally € 4,000 for concept development. The third contestant receives € 1,000.

Deadline for the Robotdalen Innovation Award is January 13, 2013. The winners will be announced at the Robotdalen event Robotics Innovation Challenge on April 25, 2013.
