Remain Seated - a seat for sailboats
Carl-Gustaf Fresk has developed Remain Seated, a seat for sailboats that allows disabled sailors to sit up regardless of how the boat leans. We are currently looking for a business partner to ensure the production and commercialization.
The idea is that those confined to wheelchairs should be able to sail on the same premises as those who are not. The seat automatically flips laterally and compensates for the lean of the boat. It is designed for use in small boats, but development of a model for large boats is underway.
Robotdalen has contributed with prototype development, business contacts, patent application and business coaching. We are now looking for a business partner who can ensure the production and commercialization of the product. There is already both a need for and an interest in the seat, from e.g. the Swedish Sailing Federation, and when the adjustments are completed for big boats there will be an even bigger market available.
The innovator, Carl-Gustaf is a racing sailor with a functional disorder who competed using the prototype in the Paralympics in China in 2008. He is also renowned for being the first wheelchair-bound person to win a regular world championship in 1995.
