Traini Test - rehabilitation robot

The rehabilitation robot TrainiTest resembles, in appearance, a traditional exercise machine at the gym, but it is in fact so much more than that. The robot measures and evaluates effective muscle capacity and capability, and the machine’s resistance is adapted to the user's individual training needs. Swedish ice-hockey team Djurgårdens IF was one of the first customers. Today, the Italian national football team is included in the clientele, along with top European football clubs and national sports academies.

Innovator Rolf Öhman with the machine TrainiTest

TrainiTest, developed by the company Inmotion Intelligence in Västerås, is similar to a traditional workout machine, however robot technology replaces the traditional weights weight of the packets with an electric motor and a system that creates variable resistance. This is Inmotion Intelligence’s globally unique, patented solution. It enables users to use all their strength without having to think about kinetic energy and muscle wear.

With TrainiTest you will be able to measure the damage in e.g. one damaged shoulder and compare the result with the other, healthy shoulder, with the results revealed on a curve. Then, the movement pattern of the resistance is adjusted to the individual in order to enhance the function, which is absolutely groundbreaking.

Big benefits for society

For health care, TrainiTest provides the ability to optimise healing and objectively measure the effects of a rehabilitation programme over time. For the individual and society, this can result in speedier recoveries and returns to work, thus reducing costs for sick leave and care.

Robotdalen is now supporting a long-term academic study in co-operation with the Malmö Sports Academy (Malmö Idrottsakademi) to gauge the effects of TrainiTest. This is an important step in strengthening and supporting the company’s commercialization of TrainiTest.

A growing market

Since the product launch in 2010, there are now a number of sports that use TrainiTest at the national level, including ice-hockey clubs Djurgården IF and MoDo Hockey, and the Sports Academy at Växjö University and the Malmö Academy of Sport. The international market has also expanded.

In 2012, the company has delivered machines to the Italian Football Federation, these are now used by the squad at various national team gatherings. Other European football clubs in the top tier have begun using TrainiTest as well, in this case Udinese in the Italian Serie A. Discussions are also in progress with several other clubs in Italy, Spain and England. Deliveries to the international market also include e.g. a delivery to Olympiatoppen, which has the operational responsibility to develop Norwegian top-level sports, in Oslo.
