Another 2.1 million euro to Swedish robotics initiative

During 2007-2010 the Swedish robotics initiative Robotdalen received additional funding from the European Regional Development fund. We have now earned renewed confidence as we’ve been granted another 2.1 million euro for 2011-2013. Funding that will help secure our goal to enable commercial success of new ideas and research within robotics and automation.

- We want to increase our cooperation with other strong and creative partners from all over the world, says Erik Lundqvist, General Manager. Robotdalen is an “enabler” bringing qualified people together in flexible teams to ensure the best and most effective way to develop new robotic solutions.

Robotdalen brings together automation suppliers, the academia, innovators and entrepreneurs, funders, public institutions and, last but not least, the end users. Key players who will meet new challenges and establish valuable contacts with peers, when they join Robotdalens flexible teams.

35 new products and 35 new companies

Robotdalens basic funding comes from VINNOVA (Sweden’s innovation agency), companies, universities and public institutions in Central Sweden. Among our industrial partners are companies such as Atlas Copco, Volvo and ABB Robotics.

The additional funding from the European Regional Development fund will help build Robotdalens international brand and will also contribute in developing a more efficient commercialization process of new products and companies. Within our three core areas – Industrial robotics, Field robotics and Technology for independent life – we will also be able to increase the focus on flexible solutions for SME:s, developing heavy autonomous vehicles for the industry and establishing Technology for independent life as a new line of business. Our goal is 35 new products and 35 new companies by 2013.

- We’ve come a long way so far with 16 new products and 16 new companies - and more are on the way, says Erik Lundqvist, General Manager at Robotdalen. Our strength lies in our ability to take innovations all the way from idea to commercialized product, with the end users needs in focus.
