Background
Robotdalen started in 2003 with a vision of creating regional growth in Mälardalen and Sweden. This goal was met by enabling commercial success for new ideas in industry and health and welfare, as well as the creation of a strong and functioning innovation system for new solutions in the robotics field.
Robotdalen addresses two major societal challenges; An aging population and a competitive industry. Robotdalen contributes to solving these challenges by developing, commercializing and implementing new products and solutions.
Robotdalen was established as a Center of Excellence at Mälardalen University, and still partly belongs to Mälardalen University. Since 2019 we also have a company, Robotdalen AB, owned by Robotdalen Association which consists of four members Västerås City, Eskilstuna Municipality, Västmanland County and Sörmland County.
The focus area Industry is the most business-driven part, while the focus area Health Care represents the "softer" part of our operation and is partly publicly funded.
